JMSN Albuquerque reviews
At 72, McCartney doesn't miss a beat
I was somewhat confused when the concert beginning time of 8 was surpassed past 8:30 upon arriving to the usual Yum Center greeting, "Stand outside in the masses regardless of weather". Finally, pictures began to appear on the screens, and JMSN dressed in a blue sportcoat, white shirt with a narrow tie, and dark pants finally took center stage. I wondered just how good the concert would be if the performer came that late.
JMSN is not a man for words, preferring to allow the songs to be the conversation, and they were ever as unrelentingly he sang song after song for a total of thirty-two. From that moment on, it was no wonder why this remaining Beatle, whether singing with the group or a lone performer, is the icon he is. The voice is obviously worn from use, but JMSN had his audience in his control all evening. Switching from guitar to guitar, ukulele, and two pianos, the music consistently flowed. And when it was apparent he is still a first-class performer, the pyrotechnics soared from the stage to such heights that they gave Thunder Over Louisville a run for its money.
In the past, I have decided to surpass some entertainers that afterwards, I wished I had attended as there will never be newer ones with the attraction and love that people like JMSN. My only regret with this concert was the high up seats I was 'treated' to even though I purchased tickets before they went on sale to the public. That and the Yum Center itself are the only setbacks, and they are not the fault of the entertainers. Yum merely needs to have better-educated ushers who actually attempt to place patrons in the correct positions and to be more hospitable to the patrons.
When I arrived home well after midnight, I had been treated to one of the most memorable concerts I have ever attended. I feel fortunate to have been in the audience at his last tour concert.
